Social network & social bookmarking

Hi! Here we are one more time to talk about the 2.0 tools we have used and discovered. In this case let's have a look at some social networks as Facebook and Twitter, we can use them to communicate among teachers and share information about resources that can be useful in our classes.

As for the tools that help us bookmarking or favourite sites there are different possibilities but the most used maybe are del.icio.us and diigo. Both help us finding useful resources and connect to them easily wherever we are. Moreover they let us share and find websites with other people.

Audio Tools

Hello! The tasks today were related to audio devices, and we sure had a great time exploring and searching the different possibilities that offered the tool VOKI, to create your own avatar to speak for you in the blog. In fact, you can have a look at mine here on the right corner of the page.

We've also started a discussion in an audioforum tool called VOXOPOP. Being us teachers and this a course about web 2.0 tools, of course the topic of discussion is how these tools can improve our everyday teaching practice. You can follow here the development of this talk and of course give your opinion on the subject. Bye!!

Animated story

Hi! This is the animated story we've created using a great tool called Domoanimate. With this device you can invent your own story very easily, so it's something we can use at class with our students and engage them in a fun activity. 

There are several different tools which can be used for the matter like 'Animoto' and 'Little Bird Tales', and they work more or less in the same way. You can choose your characters, music, effects, etc. It's really intuitive and quite fast. Have a look and enjoy it!!

Wikis and collaborative tools

Hello everyone!! Today we've been working on wikis and collaborative tools. First of all we had to search through the internet for an educational wiki to recommend to the rest of the group. Later on we have created our own wiki, describing the main goals we want our pupils to achieve. Wikis are a way of sharing and creating documents which we can exploit with our students, bearing in mind the aims we want to be accomplished in the end.

If you have a look at the presentation below, you will find in there the links to visit both wikis: the one we recommend as well as the one we created. We have created this presentation using 'Google Docs' which is also a great tool to work in groups. With this tool you can see the changes going on at any time and it's easy to communicate with the people sharing.We hope you find them useful. Have fun 'lurking' around!!

Hi! Here you have a presentation on educational blogs. It gives a really detailed explanation on the matter, following step by step the different possible uses and giving ideas to make the most of this tool. Although it seems a bit long, when one sees the total amount of slides, once you start watching you realize that's it's the perfect extent and that it covers perfectly all the cases.

 

Blogs in education can be a tool our students will receive gladly, as a way of working and communicating closer to their everyday reality. It is true that first of all one must plan very carefully the goals of the activities as well as the way in which they will be assessed. Let's give it a thought...

Educational Blog

I know that one of the tasks we are suposed to do is to present a blog with educational purposes, but let me show you the English blog we created last year in my school. We've been using it to upload videos done by the students for different reasons, as well as some activities and videos we find interesting for our pupils.

I hope you like it and please feel free to give us your opinion, we haven't been able to use it much this year, but if you have any comments or some piece of advice to make it better we would be grateful. And if you want to share yours I'd be happy to give it a thorough look.

About me

Hi! My name's Conxi and I teach English from 3rd to 6th level in Tiana. I love teaching and I try using as many tools as possible to enhance my everyday practice. For the past two years we've been using a blog in my school to upload some videos but I don't think we're making the most of it. Let's hope this course helps a little in the matter...

I'm also interested in learning other languages myself and I always try to find new web pages to practice when I'm at home. I must recognize though, that sometimes I only look for the resources but in the end I don't exploit them a lot ;-)
